why this one
starting at Derrick's sets a tone -- unhurried, a little indulgent -- so by the time we land at Unleashed we're already easy with each other. the brewery loosens whatever the steakhouse formalized, and then Mission Creek gives us somewhere to just keep talking with no bill coming. the sequence moves from seated and close to open and wandering, which is a good arc for a first night.
