The food at Kin & Folk feels like warm hug in every little bite, with service that makes you want to stay a little longer 🤗
Hubby & I made a last minute call in to check for availability and the host was able to sneak us into the bar. Felt so truly welcome since stepping into the door. The hospitality extended beyond our server, every team member we crossed paths with made an effort to acknowledge us.
You can tell the kitchen takes pride in its craft, the flavors are bold yet harmonious and nothing feels rushed or careless. We got a couple shareables, street chicken which was a flavor explosion with every bite, crispy yet tender, & prawn | scallop ceviche style dip paired with the most delicious sauce and amazing crisps to go with it. For our mains we got the crab noodles, again, a burst of flavor never had anything like it 😻. We got chicken bao buns with fries and that didn't disappoint either. After making a crappy choice for dinner the previous night, this restaurant more that redeemed our culinary experience in ktown as we're visiting for a few days. The tiramisu had to be had despite our full bellies and I couldn't put my spoon down despite being SO full 😃
Overall, a great experience. An experience that doesn’t just satisfy, but sets the pace for what truly great dining should feel like. Passing our sincere gratitude to the whole team 🙏🏾♥️
Kelowna is the largest inland city in British Columbia, and I’ve called it home for over ten years since moving from Vancouver. In that time, I’ve seen the city expand quickly, and its restaurant scene has grown more diverse and competitive.
Recently, I discovered a restaurant that started in Penticton and opened its Kelowna location this past May. They’re not a chain, but the fact that they’re thriving in different cities already says something about their quality. Even their website caught my attention, so I made it a point to visit for Sunday lunch and see what they’re all about.
It turned out many dishes had already sold out from Saturday night’s rush—a sign of how popular they’ve become. I went with the Korean Fried Bao Buns, Char Siu Pork Belly Lettuce Wraps, Roasted Sesame Salad, and Dan Dan Pappardelle. The menu might look simple at first, but each dish carried a creative twist that broke away from tradition while still honoring its roots. The highlight for me was the Dan Dan Pappardelle. I expected a typical bowl of Dan Dan noodles, but what arrived was an Italian pasta dish layered with the flavors and spirit of the original. A brilliant surprise.
Afterward, I read more about Chef Zachary Chan, the Canadian-born Chinese chef behind the concept. His philosophy is clear: Asian flavors at the core, enriched with global inspiration, contemporary techniques, fresh ingredients, and support for local producers. The result is a dining experience that feels both refined and unique.
This is a restaurant I’ll definitely be returning to—especially to try the dishes I missed this time. Kelowna is lucky to have them.
Just an overall perfect experience. Rafael provided flawless service. We had the family bread, scallop & prawn ceviche, fried boa with chicken, short rib agnoloti pastai (we added pork belly which was to die for), and saigon street chicken.
