This is such a cute location, the floor tiling is so lovely and the windows make the space feel bright and open. some thorns i have about this spot is the lack of outlets, its a struggle spot to study if you don't have a fully charged laptop. They have some really nice seating. three tables for two, the tables are a bit small so its a bit tricky to have two people working on projects or having two laptops out. They also have a three seat couch with two mini coffee tables on the left. as soon as you walk in your greeted with the coffee bar and pastry case. the space was a bit chilly (though it was a 0 degree day) with the door being opened quite frequently. the bathroom was nice and clean and had a good mirror and lighting. while we were there, the baristas were struggling to find good, constant music. they were discussing what vibey music is and were switching songs halfway through (which is a personal peeve and will not be reflected in my rating) they kept the volume down so you could still converse with those around you and still listen to what is played.
my partner and I tried the Double chocolate muffin warmed and cut in half. it was a nice, moist muffin but it was a bit bland and had no punch of chocolate flavor. Not my preferred to pair with my coffee. we also had their chicken pesto sandwich for lunch. it was nice and warm. The bread was nice and fluffy, though gave the impression of warmed in the microwave, it was floppy in integrity and made the sandwich a bit dry. The chicken was still in chunks, not shredded or a full breast with arugula, a tasteless white cheese and an interesting tomato, onion mixture on the top of the bun.the onions threw me once i got to the center of the sandwich as they had a crunch i wasn't expecting kind of over powered the pesto flavor. the tomato brought a nice bit of acidity to the sandwich that i didn't expect to enjoy.
I tried their oat milk flat white which comes in one size (8oz). the oat milk was watery (not a creamy oat milk) and a very bitter/burnt espresso flavor. my first sip definitely made my face scrunch up. My partner tried their Macchiato, it is a traditional style macchiato meaning its 2 shots of espresso with foam scooped on top, not the Americanized type (which is really a caramel latte but I'll leave that rant for another time) my partner is trying to branch out and try new drinks... she really didn't like this one, and nor did i. the espresso was very bitter, i couldn't taste any of its profile notes and smells how it tastes. sadly, we both left more than half of our drinks behind even through we tried to power through.
Overall the cafe was okay. The location is small but bright, if we go back I'll be trying their non-caffeine options next time in hopes that it might balance out the pastries taste a bit more.I did like the fact that before my partner ordered the macchiato, the barista did warn her that it is the traditional type.
