The atmosphere is lovely and cosy and the service was excellent. Particular kudos to the servers who let us know when as order was going to probably be too much for us and gave good descriptions of the sizes of various items. We had the fondue dinner and decided on the green pepercorn version. The base fondue was quite good and the green pepercorn flavour was nice but there were a very large number of pepercorns so that it became quite overwhelming the further we got into the dish, especially because we didn't realize there was a very thick layer of them on the bottom so we weren't stirring them up enough at the beginning. We also found it ended up being quite expensive for the amount of food we had. I would consider going back for their regular menu potentially though given the service and atmosphere were so good.
We ordered red wine, escargot, beef tartare, and the surf & turf with beef tenderloin. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre at best. The escargot arrived in edible cups instead of shells, and they were drowned in oil, which took away from the flavor. The restaurant tries to present itself as authentically French, but it feels more pretentious than genuine. Our server, who had such a heavy French accent that it was difficult to understand him, was also dismissive and rude. When we asked about the three-course option, he simply pointed to the board with an attitude and told us to “read it,” rather than explaining the specials. I have French colleagues who are easier to understand and more welcoming. Given the food quality and the service, I honestly don’t understand the consistently high ratings this place receives. There are far better dining options in Kelowna.
We had the most amazing dinner here! We came for a graduation celebration and everything was absolutely fantastic! We started with delicious martinis and appetizers that we all delicious, I highly recommend the escargot and the oysters! Then we had a lovely bottle of French wine with our mains. They brought out some special deserts with sparklers for us to end our evening of celebrating. They really know how to make an evening special!
